For those of you who are interested, I want to give a quick
update on Josh and how he is changing and growing. He is very much a toddler
now days and loves to run and kick balls. He is starting to wrestle more and
loves to tease. He climbs on everything. Spencer and I have started to do
Time-outs, although he just seems so little still. He actually isn’t
disobedient at all, except for one stupid thing which he thinks is so fun. He
will climb up on the back of the chair at the dinner table and leans back and
forth till it starts to wobble –if you can picture it, it seems very dangerous-
The last thing we want is a head injury in china.
He recently has learned the word “NO” and whenever I say it
he will repeat it with a smile on his face. It is so cute. I love that he
understands everything we say like “go get your shoes” or “get in your
stroller”. We also taught him how to
give puppy dog kisses J
So, sometimes he will lovingly lick our faces. Josh loves lions, ever since he
started making animal noises that was one of the first he learned and
definitely his favorite. He has a little toy lion he likes to play with and one
of the movies we brought with us was The Lion King. So Spencer got it all set
up on my computer and we watch it at least once a day. When he hears the lions
roaring he will roar with them. But it isn’t a long roaaaaaaaar , it’s just a
really quick, short roar.
I love having Josh here with us in China, yeah it is inconvenient,
and yeah it makes things hard, but often times since being here I think of how
perfect Josh is to be our first born so he could come with us. He is so patient
with Spencer and I, so understanding, and so quick to forgive. Josh doesn’t love all
the Chinese people yet. When someone is giving him attention he will run the
other way or cover his face with his blanket or cry. I was surprised he could
tell the difference once we moved here but he isn’t very friendly yet. Josh is
really good at concentrating. He is always deep in thought and observant to
what is around him. He knows what fireworks are and doesn’t like the sound. He
loves watching the men cook out on the street with their woks and fire. He
loves to see eggs scramble in oil and has figured out how elevators work and
will wait by the door till they open then want to push the buttons to go down.
What is really cute is when we get off the elevator going home he knows to turn
the corner and what door is ours. He loves when we are in the kitchen cooking
food. He will come in saying “cook, cook” and wanting to get up and help.
Josh has turned over a new leaf during church. He does
really well. He will sit still for almost the whole 3 hours playing quietly by
himself. He has really figured out how to express himself and it is cute to
watch him want to do things his way. We of course have so many hopes and dreams
for Josh. He is so little still but he has definitely been changed by this
experience, hopefully for the best.
Thanks for posting this. It is a good read.
