On Thursday morning, my poor sweet Joshy was all red, swollen, and itchy. His ears scared me the most. They where huge. I'm not sure what it was in the previous 24 hours that he ate, drank, or was exposed too I can think of probably 20 things that it could have been, but this was not fun especially with Spencer up in Beijing. When we woke up I thought he just had mosquito bites and had scratched at them. My friend came over at 8am and saw him and said we have to rush him to the hospital. So she got her car, and explained to me that we would go to the children's hospital because they are very good, that is where she takes her 2 boys when they are sick. There was so much traffic and no where to park it took a long time to get there. Once inside it seemed to me like chaos, it was loud and uptight. And I had no idea what was wrong with Joshy so I was starting to worry just a little, and he kept getting more swollen. But my friend was taking care of everything. We walked from floor to floor, getting his blood taken, seeing the doctor, getting a shot, buying medication, waiting...My friends english is just ok and she was trying to tell me that the medication the doctor recommends might but Josh into Shock, so thats when I called my branch presidents wife who speaks both languages fluently and she worked us threw everything. The doctor suggested to keep Josh at the hospital for 2 or 3 days with an IV drip and I thought Holy Crap this is to weird. So, once sister Yu arrived and explained she did not like the idea of the IV drip and to take a shot instead that would take down the swelling, I felt good about it and it really did help. He seemed to calm down and not be as itchy either. We then drove over to the church where we met up with the Elders Quorum President who gave Josh a quick blessing then we went home. They told me what he has was called Urticarias and of course I had no idea what that is so I called my mom and she said all it is, is Hives :) Nothing to serious, but it could have been. So its been 24 hrs now and Josh is no longer swollen, just red, sleepy and itchy. But we survived! We just miss daddy.

Such a sad picture :( The worse part was
that Spencer wasn't here |
When I got home my cute friend brought me
some lunch, she thought I might be hungry :)
Just a side note, not once did I sign any papers, or show any ID, I didn't even have passports with me. I was never asked any questions, but they drew his blood, gave him meds, and a shot and all of was for a grand total of 50 yuan which I think is like 8 dollars. What the....
:( my poor josh. :( i hope he gets better fast. i think he just needs a visit from go-wissa. :)
ReplyDeleteTawny, I am in shock!!!! These pictures just make me want to cry and have you guys here. When does Spencer get home? I am so proud of you for being strong and level headed and not freaking out. I didn't think an antibiotic took care of a virus. I wonder if he picked up something from the swimming pool or even the sandbox. I hope he gets feeling better soon!
