Summary of Flight Over

Okay, here is just a summary of the flight over here.  Here are a couple main points to fill you in.

Right when we got to Salt Lake International Airport Josh got down and started running around.  He was not phased by the people or the airport at all.  Even when we got to the terminal he was really good while we waited.

On the plane he was an angel.  We sat on the very last row (no reclining seats, yuck), but there were two really nice flight attendant girls flying home that sat right in front of us.  They were really nice to Josh and played with him for a bit.  The flight went by really fast, and honestly, I cannot remember much more from the flight.

LAX was not too bad (besides the fact that the international terminal sucks.  No good food, no free wifi, and just an inconvenient place).  If you can't tell, I really dislike LAX.  Josh however loved his new discovery of escalators and moving walkways.  He spent most of his time playing on moving walkways.  Once he fell asleep we talked for over an hour with a really nice older couple who were going to Nepal to hike and visit some students they helped by paying for their education.  Super adventurous and nice.

The long stretch from LA to Korea was great.  Josh slept, so we slept, Josh woke up, so we woke up, and that was pretty much how it went.  Both times he slept we hurried and forced ourselves to sleep not knowing how long we would actually get to sleep for.  There was a lot of leg room in front of us, so he played on the floor, the seats, and walked circles up and down the ailes.  We didn't get to watch any movies :(  I checked there were some really good ones too.  To be honest, I think the flight went by faster than any ones I have taken in the past.  It was just not a big deal at all.  We slept, we ate, we played, and then we landed.  Josh only played with like one toy the whole time, and maybe ate one or two snacks.

The Korean airport is wonderful.  Josh played on the toys, we took turns napping, next thing we knew we were on our next flight.  Josh really appreciated being able to run around.

This was the flight I was most concerned about.  I figured by this point Josh was going to be pretty ticked off when we found out we were getting on another plane.  He started out doing really good, but about 30 minutes into it, we hit his breaking point.  Poor little guy was just so exhausted, confused, and probably sick of sitting quietly he broke.  He screamed and cried, and pretty much was the baby on the plane everyone hates.  Luckily this only lasted 5-10 minutes before he crashed.  He slept the rest of the flight.

As I mentioned on the post with pictures of Josh sleeping in our hotel, Josh was out cold.  This was not a quite, peaceful environment.  We got off the plane, went through immigration, picked up our checked luggage, walked to our hotel, checked in, unloaded stuff in our room, and organized.  He didn't flinch through any of it.

The next morning we woke up bright and early (2am to be precise).  Josh just did not quite comprehend jetlag.  I think we took a short nap around 7am.  We walked back over to the airport, found our way to the ticket counter, checked our luggage, and found our waiting area.  It was crazy to see the stark difference between international flights and flying on a Chinese airline domestically.  Our waiting area was in a remote little corner on the ground level of the airport.  No one spoke English, and really it was no different than a Chinese train station (for those of you that know what that is like).  It was weird to transition into this sort of thing so quickly.

Josh did great on this flight too.  He played with his toys pretty much the whole time.  The flight was only about an hour long, so it wasn't too big of a deal.  He was pretty much a pro at flying by this point :)

Once in Nanjing, we got our luggage and found our way out to the taxies.

I will continue this story in the next post.
